PS/Algarve regretted this Monday, April 11, the death of Joaquim Vairinhos, remembering the former mayor of Loulé as a «courageous political leader».
In a note of condolence signed by Luís Graça, current president of PS/Algarve, Vairinhos is also remembered as someone «permanently dissatisfied, fighting for the Algarve, and for his land – Loulé, which he always put above all else».
«The Algarve socialists have lost one of their best leaders. A free man who thought and acted with his head, guiding his political action with a high sense of solidarity, having, after abandoning executive political functions, been an example of civic and cultural intervention”, he adds.
PS/Algarve placed the flag at half-mast.
Joaquim Vairinhos, who was also president of PS/Algarve, died this Monday, aged 77, after a prolonged illness.
