«A request – please, give me a copy of God» is the name of the dance show that José Laginha (and Marlene Vilhena) take to the stage at Teatro das Figuras, on Friday, April 29, at 21:30 pm. It is the return of the “Artista Figuras” program to the Municipal Theater of Faro.
This show, which debuts at Teatro das Figuras, will be the first of three that the artist will present in 2022 in this room.
“In 1962, three revolutionary events, three moments of cleavage that transformed the way of understanding pop music, dance and fado. In Liverpool, “Love Me Do” marks the beginning of the explosion that the Beatles were. In New York, at the Judson Memorial Church, a group of creators met, changing the course of dance, among them Yvonne Rainer, who would later create Trio A, a seminal piece of contemporary dance, and, in Lisbon, Amália records “Busto”, in an unlikely partnership with Alain Oulman, from which a new fado is born”, explain the creators of the show.
“Without pretending to build a coherent and descriptive discourse, this work finds in Amália the integrity and respect, intensity and restraint that we seek in Dance”, add José Laginha and Marlene Vilhena.
