José Leite Pereira, former regional director of Economics for the Algarve and professor at the University of the Algarve, has died at the age of 73. UAlg has already expressed its regret, recalling that his connection to the Algarve academy “was never interrupted”.

With a degree in Economics from ISCEF (currently Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão – ISEG) and holder of a vast professional curriculum, José Leite Pereira has held positions such as: technician-coordinator of the Regional Directorate of IFADAP, in Faro, Regional Director for the Algarve at the National Statistics Institute and Regional Director for the Economy of the Algarve, among others.

José Leite Pereira started in 1983 as a guest assistant at UAlg, becoming a guest assistant professor at the Faculty of Economics in 1990.

«Even after his retirement, he kept his teaching duties free of charge, in the Economics course, until today», recalls the UAlg.
