The Disciplinary Council of the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) opened an investigation process due to Portimonense's performance in the game against FC Porto that the Algarve lost 7-0. The Portimão club's SAD has already reacted to what it says is a "fierce, merciless and unfounded" attack.

The Disciplinary Board's statement explains that the process will investigate a "possible presentation of an inferior team in play to count for Liga Portugal".

In that match, Paulo Sérgio used some players with fewer minutes, such as Sana Gomes or Lazaar.

At the time, the Algarve coach justified the seven changes with the fact that four players were suspended and that Nakajima, on loan from the Dragons, could not play.

In a statement released yesterday, the Portimonense SAD has already reacted to the opening of this investigation process.

«In the same sports season in which a team was allowed to enter the field with 9 players - and already after technicians expressed in a press conference in advance of the games that they would manage their squad depending on the opponent - it would be idiotic to try to Portimonense SAD a investigation process that calls into question the seriousness of the technical team, players, managers and administration», he says.

«We cannot believe that this is so, and we cannot believe that the sports entities – themselves – are an actor in an attack that only seeks to destabilize a working group that is united and focused on ending another sports season at the highest Portuguese level» , concludes.
