Covid-19 cases drop in a week, but there are more deaths and hospitalizations in 7 days

According to the DGS weekly report

The total number of Covid-19 cases registered in a week decreased again at the national level, but there was an increase in hospitalizations and deaths, although less marked, according to the weekly situation report of the Directorate-General for Health. (DGS) for the period between 22 and 28 March.

In those seven days, 70.111 new cases of infections with the new coronavirus were detected, 5169 fewer than those reported a week ago.

On the other hand, there was an increase in admissions to hospitals in the country, which rose to 1180 (+16), despite a decrease in patients in intensive care, which were 61 (-1), on the 28th.

 

 

Over the period under review, there were 137 deaths from Covid-19 across the country, eight more than in the previous week.

Most of the deaths occurred in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region (52 more, that is 6 more than the previous week), followed by the Center (32 deaths, -8), the North (31, +5), Algarve (14, +8), Madeira (11, +4), Alentejo (7, -4) and Azores (1, -2).

The incidence, on the other hand, continues to fall and stood at 681 cases per 100 inhabitants, a decrease of 7% compared to the previous week.

OR(t), or transmission rate, remains at 0,97.

 

 

The Civil Protection Commission of the Algarve Region reports, in its weekly situation, for the period between March 26 and April 1, that there were 4346 more cases of Covid-19 in the region.

In the same period there were 8.786 patients recovering from the disease and 12 deaths. In this way, active cases dropped to 7537, 4452 less than last week.

As for hospitalizations, as of 00:00 on 31 March there were 53 Covid patients hospitalized in Algarve hospitals (-4), of which 1 in Intensive Care (-2), with no ventilated patient (-2).
