Algarve takes the podium in all classes in the Portuguese Sailing Championship

XXXIII Junior and Absolute Portuguese Championship took place between 7 and 10 April

The Algarve sailors who participated in the XXXIII Junior and Absolute Portuguese Championship took the podium in all classes in the championship. The championship took place between the 7th and 10th of April, in Cascais, and had 158 participants, spread over 133 boats, representing 28 Portuguese clubs.

According to the Portuguese Sailing Federation, the Algarve sailors present on behalf of several clubs managed to score more than 10 places on the podium and several titles of Champions of Portugal in the different classes.

In the Hansa 303 class, João Pinto, from Clube Naval de Portimão, was crowned Champion of Portugal and Pedro Reis, from Clube Naval de Cascais, was Vice, followed by Guilherme Ribeiro from Iate Clube Marina de Portimão.

In the IQFoil Youth Class, João Nobrega, from Centro de Treino de Mar, won all the regattas held in the Youth division on the last day and thus secured the highest place on the podium, becoming the first Portuguese Champion in this class. Ricardo Correia, also from the center of Mar, was second, followed by sailor from the Clube Naval de Ponta Delgada Martim Mendes who closed in third place.

In the seniors division of the IQFoil class, the fight was intense between the two sailors from the Centro de Treino de Mar, Tiago Abreu and João Rodrigues, who ended up in first and second position respectively. Miguel Martinho, from Clube Naval de Portimão, took third place in the general classification.

In the ILCA4 class, Boudie Van Dishoeck was the leader. In this class, the sailor from the Ginásio Clube Naval de Faro, Sienna Wright, was second with a very successful final day. Duarte Barcelos, sailor from Clube Naval da Praia da Vitória, who closed in third place, and Júlia Cardoso, sailor from Clube Naval do Funchal, who closed in fourth place, were crowned Champions of Portugal Juniors and Absolutes for being the sailors of nationality. Portuguese with the best classification.

In the ILCA 6 class, the Clube Naval de Faro completely won the podium with João Pontes in first place, thus becoming Champion of Portugal Junior and Absolute, followed by Miguel Sancho in second position and Guilherme Cavaco in the last position of the podium. In women's Luísa Peres, sailor of the Clube de Vela de Viana do Castelo, and Mara António, of the Clube Naval de Portimão, were crowned Women's Champions of Portugal, respectively in the Absolutes and Juniors.

In the 420 class, Francisco Uva Sancho and José Vozone, from Clube Naval de Cascais, became two-time champions of Portugal Juniors and Absolutes. The sailors of Clube de Vela do Barreiro, Ricardo Alves and Rita Munhá, won the two regattas of the last day and managed to claim the second place in the general and the title of Champions of Portugal in the Absolute Mixed category. Third place went to sailors Beatriz Cintra and Filipe Lopes from Clube Náutico de Tavira. Also in the 420, the women's category was also won by the sailors of the Clube Naval de Cascais Katharina Leite and Mafalda Cruz who were crowned Women's Junior and Absolute Bi-Champions of Portugal, and the mixed junior category was won by Miguel Sousa and Érica Porto , from Clube Náutico de Tavira.
