Albufeira presents project for the rehabilitation of Edificado da Misericórdia

Presentation of the project to the public takes place within the scope of the commemorations of the International Day for Monuments and Sites

The Rehabilitation Project of the Misericórdia Building in Albufeira will be presented on 18 April, International Day for Monuments and Sites.

The program starts at 16 pm on the 00th, at the Municipal Archeology Museum of Albufeira, and also includes the viewing of a documentary about Paderne Castle and a musical moment with Arsénio Martins and Paulo Lopes.

Afterwards, the Rehabilitation Project for the Edificio da Misericórdia de Albufeira will be presented, a building with several centuries, located on Rua Henrique Calado, one of the historic sites of the Municipality. Later, in the Misericórdia chapel, there is a musical moment with Arsénio Martins and Paulo Lopes.

«It is a project that is very pleasing, I believe, to all the people of Albufeira, so, on our part, we will do everything to promote this rehabilitation. It is never too much to remember that the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Albufeira was one of the first Misericórdias to be created in our country, in 1499, after the Misericórdia de Lisboa. After so many years, it continues to guide its work towards the end for which it is intended, that is, the unconditional support to those who need it most», said Mayor José Carlos Rolo.

At the end of the programme, organized by the Municipality of Albufeira in partnership with Santa Casa da Misericórdia of the municipality, participants will have the opportunity to visit the exhibition by Rui Gregório, an artist from Albufeira, called “Along the paths of Algarvensis”.

According to the municipality, this photographic exhibition is accompanied by a sound piece by Armando Mota «which shows the variety of landscapes, trails and fossils of the various parishes in the municipality».
