São Brás de Alportel has a new Motorhome Service Area

The area, where pets are allowed, has a capacity for 25 caravans.

The São Brás de Alportel Motorhome Service Area opened this Saturday, March 12. The infrastructure is located on the side of the EN2, at Rua Jaime Passos Pinto. 

«It is a very important investment that will have a great impact on the local economy and that will once again affirm the municipality as a territory with an excellent location and with enormous natural potential that it is important to value», said Vítor Guerreiro, Mayor of São Brás de Alportel.

The mayor thanked the efforts of various entities and partner companies at local and regional level, such as the In Loco Association, the Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR) and the Algarve Tourism Region (RTA).

The area, where pets are allowed, has a capacity for 25 caravans, three of which are for larger caravans, support reception, Wireless free of charge, domestic waste water discharge area and water supply, changing rooms, laundry, ecopoint, social areas, picnic area with grilling area, petanque court, information on tourist activities and will soon have a space for the purchase of local products .

 

 

For those who do not have a motorhome and want to have this experience with a romantic touch, the São Brás de Alportel Motorhome Services Area “Live on Wheels” will soon make available the motorhome of love.

The works were developed by the São Paulo company Sérgio Caiado Raminhos, Lda. for the value of 140 thousand euros.

«We want São Brás de Alportel to be a reference in the area of ​​motorhomes in the Algarve, with spaces that excel in quality and authenticity», said Marlene Guerreiro, vice-president of the Chamber, responsible for tourism.

By investing in this tourist niche, with a growing presence in the Algarve, the Municipality hopes that tourists will have the opportunity to discover the natural, gastronomic, cultural, architectural and historical heritage of the municipality and boost the local economy.

This was an investment integrated into an inter-municipal project, for the creation of a support network for motorhomes in the Algarve region, which was the subject of an application for community funds, approved within the scope of CRESC Algarve and integrated in the Action Plan for the Valorization of the Endogenous Resources (PADRE).

The joint operation between the Municipalities of São Brás de Alportel, Silves and Tavira, in partnership with Associação In Loco, had a total investment of over 590 thousand euros, with a community contribution of 70% from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) .

 

 

Artur Gregório, from Associação In Loco, took the opportunity to explain that the project will enter the second phase that will focus on the promotion of events, activities and the provision of a platform where tourists will be able to plan their holidays and understand in advance where they want to go, what they want to try, where they want to eat, what to visit, among other information.

«Reinforcing the Algarve's position as a region of excellence in the area of ​​ecological motorhomes» is an objective that this project aims at, underlined Artur Gregório.

José Apolinário, president of CDDR, praised the implementation of this project, within the scope of a regional strategy of the utmost importance to enhance the potential of the region.

Finally, João Fernandes, president of the Algarve Tourism Region, stressed the importance of implementing this investment, which is of the utmost importance for the tourist development of the Algarve.
