Maritime Police seize 260 kg of donkey and shellfish in Tavira

Bivalves were still alive and were returned to the sea

The Maritime Police of Tavira seized, during an inspection that took place this morning, about 260 kilograms of bivalves.

The inspection targeted “five fishing vessels in full activity of catching bivalves, using a fishing gear called “towed hook”, whose fishermen on board were in a situation of infraction for operating outside the hours defined by law. and for not wearing life jackets», explains the National Maritime Authority.

The elements of the Maritime Police seized, "as a precautionary measure", around 180 kg of foot clam and around 80 kg of conquilha, which, "because they were still alive, were returned to their natural habitat", sea.

In this action, seven elements of the local Command of the Maritime Police of Tavira participated, supported by a boat and two vehicles.
