The Loulé Chamber will invest 1,5 million euros in an infrastructure that improves the environmental quality of Ribeira do Cadoiço.

The idea is to build an alternative collector to the one installed in Ribeira da Graça.

This investment «arises from the need to eliminate and clean up the pollution of the Ribeira do Cadoiço in the city of Loulé, deactivating the domestic sewage outfall installed inside the aqueduct that crosses Loulé in the north/south direction between the covered car park and the Ponte do Cadoiço in road to Faro», explains the Loulé Chamber.

The work to be carried out consists of the construction of a large collector, starting at Rua Drª Laura Ayres (in front of the Loulé Administrative Court) and following Rua Ventura de Sousa Barbosa, Rua General Humberto Delgado, Rua Ribeiro da Graça and Rua do Chainsaw.

A section of domestic collector with the same characteristics will also be built between the parking area that connects Rua General Humberto Delgado and Rua Antero de Quental, as well as the repair and replacement of existing infrastructure along the entire route whenever necessary. .

“We are thus responding to the population's concern about a situation that has affected residents and the entire environmental quality of this area. It is a significant investment, but of great importance for the entire city of Loulé», considers the mayor Vítor Aleixo.

Moreover, even recently, the Almargem association coordinated a project called “Cadoiço Vive” in which measures such as the renaturalization of the riparian gallery and the reinforcement of wild fauna were successfully applied.
