Books on Environmentalism and TAP motivate debates in Faro

Gonçalo Duarte Gomes is one of the guests

The books “Environmentalism: a market view” and “Millions in flight: the lies we were told about TAP” will be presented this Thursday, the 17th, at the Hotel Faro, in the Algarve capital, by Instituto +Liberdade.

At 17:30 pm, landscape architect Gonçalo Duarte Gomes will be talking to Carlos Guimarães Pinto and André Pinção Lucas about the work that presents a new perspective for the environmental discussion.

In this conversation, according to the promoters, «alternative views on environmentalism will be discussed: on the one hand, a more centralized view, focusing on greater State intervention and strong regulation, and, on the other, a view more based on the market economy and property rights'.

From 18:30 pm, it is the turn of Raquel Ponte, former journalist, manager and promoter of various citizenship initiatives, to step in and discuss with Carlos Guimarães Pinto and André Pinção Lucas about TAP.

In “Millions in flight: the lies we were told about TAP”, the authors «deconstruct, one by one, all the arguments that have been used by other political leaders to justify the injection of public capital into TAP», highlights the +Liberdade Institute.

This reinforcement means a charge of at least around 400 euros per Portuguese or 800 euros for each Portuguese worker. The justification that has been presented, for one of the biggest injections ever by the State in a public company, focuses, essentially, on the essential character of the airline for the economy, for employment, for tourism and even for national sovereignty.

The two books are part of the +Liberdade Collection, which is the result of a partnership between Alêtheia Editores and Instituto +Liberdade and aims to «spread knowledge and ideas for a free society».

Instituto +Liberdade, founded on February 12, 2021, is a non-profit liberal organization whose mission is to «transmit knowledge about the main pillars of a free society based on individual freedom, political freedom and the market economy» .

He claims to pursue the «goal of improving financial and economic literacy in the country, because only with economic and financial literacy can we aspire to make people make informed decisions that promote individual economic development and society as a whole».

In this sense, Instituto +Liberdade is dedicated to «the study of public policies and the provision of knowledge and information that allow a better understanding of their scope».
