“De Gaulle” is the French Film of the Month in Portimão

It was not premeditated, but the choice of the next French Film of the Month in Portimão could hardly be more pertinent. “De Gaulle” is the work that will be exhibited this Thursday, March 31, at 21 pm, in the auditorium of the Portimão Museum, and will present the story of this general who wanted to “save France” from Hitler’s invasion.

«May 1940. A certain De Gaulle, a recently promoted general in the French army, wants to save France from an announced defeat. Events will separate him from his wife Yvonne and their children, forced, like so many other French people, to set out on the paths of exodus…», summarizes the Alliance Française do Algarve, which organizes this initiative.

The session has free admission and is open to the public from 12 years of age. The original French version with Portuguese subtitles will be shown.

“De Gaulle” is a 2020 film by Gabriel Bomin with Lambert Wilson and Isabelle Carré in the lead roles.

Aimed at promoting the French language and culture to an audience of francophiles, francophones and cinephiles in the Algarve, the “French Film of the Month” is organized by the Alliance Française do Algarve and has the support of the City Council, the Museum and the Friends of the Algarve.
