The Algarve athlete Etson Barros was crowned this Saturday, March 19, national champion of under-23 in short cross country and national vice-champion in the absolute, in the competitions held in Guimarães.
In the under-23s, Etson Barros, who represents Benfica, was ahead of Duarte Gomes, also from Benfica, and Pedro Amaro (Recreio de Águeda).
The men's event, in absolute terms, was won by Samuel Freire, a Cape Verdean Portuguese.
The athlete from Vitória de Setúbal concluded the race in 11.28 minutes, while Etson Barros had the time of 11.29 minutes.
As for the women's, Rita Coelho, from Casa do Benfica in Faro, became national vice-champion under-23. Bárbara Neiva (RunTejo) was the winner.
