Abel Matinhos re-elected president of JS/Algarve

Young socialist highlighted as priorities for this mandate the fight and adaptation to climate change

Abel Matinhos was re-elected last Saturday, 5 March, president of the Socialist Youth (JS) of the Algarve. The congress took place in Monchique. 

In addition to Abel Matinhos, Filipe Baptista, as chairman of the Federative Political Commission, and André Correia, as president of the Federative Jurisdiction Commission, were also elected.

Abel Matinhos highlighted as priorities for this mandate the fight against and adaptation to climate change because this «is the greatest challenge of our generation and our time».

The young socialist also stressed that the transformation of regional economic activity “has to be a reality so that we can have a stable job offer”, defending the Algarve interior “as an opportunity”.

The work was also marked at the opening by the intervention of Miguel Matos, secretary general of JS, and, at the end, by the words of Miguel Rodrigues, deputy secretary general.

Paulo Alves, mayor of Monchique, and Luís Graça, president of PS/Algarve also participated.
