The Portimão Museum will join the national activity “Discovering Industrial Tourism” with a guided tour of its facilities and a boat tour “Moira”, on the 9th and 10th of April.
Portimonense cultural equipment, «nationally and internationally awarded», is part of the European Industrial Heritage Route and is part of the program of activities “Discovering Industrial Tourism”, which will take place in the Algarve between the 8th and 14th of April, on the initiative of of the Dynamic Group of the Portuguese Industrial Tourism Network.
In Portimão, a guided tour of the museum and surrounding areas is scheduled on the 9th, at 15:00 pm, in which “particular focus will be given to the industrial and social reality that was installed here and the relationship with the social and urban environment”.
On the following day, April 10, at 10:00 am, there will be a guided tour along the banks of the Arade on board the boat “Moira”, «during which the industrial and human evolution of Portimão and its timeless connection to the river and the sea".
Both activities are free, despite requiring prior registration, and are aimed at all interested parties, «including families who enjoy the Easter holidays in the week in question and who will be able to enjoy authentic and original industrial tourism experiences», according to the Portimão Chamber.

Industrial tourism was one of the themes highlighted by Turismo de Portugal at the Lisbon Tourism Exchange 2022, with a workshop called “Discovering Industrial Tourism” having been held in collaboration with the Portuguese Industrial Tourism Network, «with the aim of making known the offer in this area, with the sharing of experiences and national know-how that confirm the relevance and demand for this product, as well as stimulating the development of tourist programs that can be promoted and sold to national and foreign tourists»
This initiative is organized by the Portuguese Network of Industrial Tourism through the Dynamic Group of the Portuguese Network of Industrial Tourism and has the support of Tourism from the Portimão City Council and the Portimão Museum.
