Lagos Municipal Police inspects and charges illegal waste disposal

These actions by the Municipal Police of Lagos will continue to take place, under constant surveillance

The Municipal Police of Lagos promoted inspection actions, within the scope of the General Regime for Waste Management in the municipality, during which infractions were detected for abandoned construction and demolition waste. «These regular actions will continue to be the mission of the Municipal Police», guarantees the Lacobrigense Chamber.

Within the scope of this inspection, «notices of administrative infraction were carried out, namely for the practice of prohibited action, by private initiative, which resulted in a landfill in an area included in the National Ecological Reserve (REN), and for the discharge of construction and demolition waste in a place not licensed or authorized for that purpose', announced the municipality.

The fines imposed may be between 20.000 and 200.000 euros, and the General Inspectorate for Agriculture, the Sea, the Environment and Spatial Planning (IGAMAOT) was informed of the case.

These actions by the Municipal Police of Lagos «have been carried out regularly and will continue to take place, under constant surveillance, as part of its competence in terms of monitoring municipal regulations that affect the management of public space, the defense/protection of nature, the environment and hunting resources», concludes the Chamber in a press release.
