Sports, music and humor are the biggest highlights in March

Concerts by Dino d'Santiago, António Zambujo and Salvador Sobral, a festival of humor, exhibitions and even a sporting event. These are some of the proposals that the Algarve has to offer in March.

For those who never miss a good challenge, the Algarve Bike Challenge takes place from 4 to 6, divided into three stages spread across the Algarve region.

The race will start in the historic center of Tavira, heading towards the mountains and, finally, passing through the Barrocal. This edition will feature a new and improved route.

On March 20, at 17 pm, Dino d'Santiago arrives on stage at Cineteatro Louletano for the national premiere of his new album, with his unmistakable voice and talent and characteristic Afro-electronic rhythms.

HumorFest 2022 will take place from March 5th to April 10th. The event brings together different comedians and actors who take the stage in yet another edition of the Lagoa Humor Festival, which will be on display at the Carlos do Carmo Auditorium.

At the beginning of the month and still in the music scene, on the 4th and 5th, the 22nd Festival de Música Al-Mutamid will take place, an itinerant event with shows in Silves, Lagos and Loulé and melodies from Al-Andaluz and music and dance from Middle East and Maghreb. Rui Veloso, the biggest name in Portuguese music, takes the stage at the Auditorio Carlos do Carmo, in Lagoa, on the 12th for an intimate concert with a trio of guitars. Salvador Sobral will perform on the 18th at Teatro das Figuras, in Faro, followed by António Zambujo, on the 19th and 20th, at the Teatro Municipal de Portimão.

At the Duval Pestana Auditorium, in Lagos, you can watch the performance of “A Noite da Dona Luciana”, by Teatro do Elétrico, on the 12th of March, and the play Paranormal with Joaquim Monchique, on the 26th.

Also on the 12th, the comedy “Perfeitos Desconhecidos” takes the stage at TEMPO – Teatro Municipal de Portimão. And why not mark World Theater Day, on the 27th, in Silves with “Those sad days” (Teatro Mascarenhas Gregório) or in Loulé with “Aquário” (Cineteatro Louletano)?

In dance, Victor Hugo Pontes presents three dancers imagined by the writer Gonçalo M. Tavares. From the 11th to the 12th of March, at Cineteatro Louletano, “Os Três Irmãos” will look for the traces of their parents, mark their absence in chalk and carry each other's bodies in sacrifice.

The prestigious Spanish Ballet company of Murcia will perform at the Teatro das Figuras on the 19th. Passion Flamenca, a show where performances of great technique and artistic level, dancing different styles, end with a flamenco party.

In the exhibition panorama, Eduarda Coutinho will present “Viagem PontoCom – Uma Alma Feminina”, an exhibition based on the cultures of the first men, from 8 to 31 March, at the Municipal Library of Lagos.

For those who prefer an out-of-door program, on the 26th and 27th, the Estoi monthly market site hosts the Mediterranean Gardening Spring Fair. And to mark the commemoration of International Women's Day, on March 8, at Teatro das Figuras, in Faro the anniversary is celebrated with singing, fado, dance, poetry, traditional Portuguese music, among many other activities.

All these events are part of the “Guia do Algarve”, a bilingual publication (Portuguese and English) of the Algarve Tourism Region aimed at residents and tourists. It has a circulation of 30 thousand copies and is distributed free of charge in hotels, travel agencies, tourist offices, Faro, rent-a-cars and golf courses in the region.
