Portimonense was defeated by Gil Vicente by 1-0 in the trip they made to Barcelos, today, Sunday, January 23, to play a match on the 19th round of the I Liga.

Playing at home, Gil Vicente was the first team to create danger, at 4 minutes, in a corner, but Vítor Carvalho's shot went wide.

In the 14th minute, Zé Carlos broke through the Algarve defense and served Fran Navarro from close range, who shot with a first-time shot. The goal seemed inevitable, but Samuel Portugal, with a huge defense, managed to avoid it.

In the 24th minute, Portimonense's life got complicated. Lucas Fernandes saw the second yellow card and was sent off, leaving the Algarve to play with 10.

That allowed Gil Vicente to get even closer to the opponent's area, looking for the goal.

Even so, it would be Portimonense to create the most dangerous move, in what remained of the first half, but Aponza's shot was saved by the gilista goalkeeper.

In the second half, Gil Vicente took over the game, which became one-way and towards Samuel Portugal's goal.

The Barcelos team did everything to score, but Portimonense closed the paths to the goal, although, at times, with clear difficulties and a touch of luck.

But in the 74th minute, and after a lot of trying, Gil Vicente ended up scoring. Pedrinho shot hard from outside the area, in the central zone, and put the ball in the back of the goal.

The 1-0 was made.

Losing, Portimonense showed no arguments that would allow him to change his luck, despite having tried to react. Gil Vicente, on the other hand, calmed down his game and tried to have possession of the ball in the opponent's midfield.

The game would not end before Samuel Portugal was forced to make another great save, avoiding the 2-0.

The final whistle came not long after, sealing the victory for the home team.

With this result, Portimonense remains in 8th position, with 25 points, after 19 I Liga matches have been played.
