Legislative: Election campaign starts today

This is the 17th time that the Portuguese are called to vote in parliamentary elections in democracy

The official campaign for the early parliamentary elections on January 30th begins this Sunday, January 16th, after a pre-campaign marked by three dozen televised debates between the political forces that elected deputies in 2019.

PSD president Rui Rio kicks off the official campaign to the north, in the district of Braga, during the afternoon. First, a contact action with the population and local commerce is planned in Barcelos and then a thematic session on economy and innovation in Braga.

The secretary general of the PS and prime minister António Costa is on the island of São Miguel, where he visits companies in Ribeira Grande and presents the socialist candidates for the Azores circle, in Vila Franca do Campo.

In addition to PS, PSD, BE, CDU (PCP/PEV), CDS-PP, PAN, Chega, Iniciativa Liberal e Livre – parties that achieved parliamentary representation in the October 2019 legislative elections –, another 30 are running in the elections on January 12, 21. political forces, a total of XNUMX.

More than 10 million voters residing in Portugal and abroad are included in the electoral rolls for choosing the 230 deputies to the Assembly of the Republic.
