Lagoense Gilberto Duarte summoned to the European Handball Championship

Holds the biggest club title in the world, working for FC Barcelona

The athlete from Lagos Gilberto Duarte was once again called to the national team, this time to represent Portugal in the European Men's Handball Championship, which takes place from January 13th to 30th, in Hungary and Slovakia.

The coach Paulo Pereira released yesterday the list of 20 players who will represent Portugal in the next European Senior Men's Handball Championship, which includes the name of Gilberto Duarte, from Montpellier HB (France), with 107 caps and 299 goals for the national team.

Gilberto Duarte, born in Lagoa, started his career in the formation of Lagoa Académico Clube, having been transferred to Futebol Clube do Porto in the 2007/2008 season, where he was national champion seven consecutive times and made the leap to the best championships in the Europe, having already represented clubs such as Wisla Plock (Poland), FC Barcelona (Spain) and Montpellier HB (France).

Holder of the biggest club title in the world, at FC Barcelona, ​​he also has 14 more national titles in his record, including national champion, a Super Cup, a League Cup and a Spanish Cup, in the neighboring country, seven times national champion in Portugal, two Super Cups and a League Cup, also in Portugal.
