The Municipal Assembly of Lagoa approved, in two meetings of the ordinary session, which took place on the 29th and 30th of December, the budget of around 40 million euros for the year 2022.
Approved by a majority, the budget and the plan's major options received 16 favorable votes from the Socialist Party bench, as well as seven abstentions and two votes against from the Lagoa First Movement. This result of the vote “was expected”, since the PS “has the majority in the composition of the Municipal Assembly”.
The proposal for the Budget and Major Plan Options (GOP) of the Municipality of Lagoa, for the year 2022, is based on «two priorities, two goals and six commitments», «strengthening the work in areas where the municipality is already recognized as an example for the region and for the country and prioritizing others that are of vital importance».
Its objective is «continuing the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, investing in the economic recovery of the county, in the replacement of the county's main water distribution pipelines, in housing, as well as in the continuation of the strong investment made in areas such as education, culture, social action, sport, taking care of the public space and providing the municipality with vital infrastructure for Lagoa», he explains.
It is «a proposal that intends to continue to affirm Lagoa as one of the best councils to live, work, study and visit».

The document presented will be "the council's executive guideline", not only for the year 2022, but "for the coming years, always giving priority to people, promoting the quality and improvement of the services we provide, optimizing resources, strengthening management oriented towards the citizens and promoting greater proximity between the municipality and the population».
«This is a budget that is based on rigor, transparency and seriousness, allowing the municipality of Lagoa to continue to present balanced and sustainable municipal finances, in the medium and long term, and carry out structuring and important works», considers Luís Encarnação, President of the City Council.
