Jamila on the attack: «PSD came to the Algarve and not a word about the Central Hospital»

«Algarvians need this investment and only the PS is committed to investing in the Central Hospital of the Algarve», says the head of the list

«The PSD came to the Algarve to talk about health and not a word about the Hospital. In the national program they say nothing, in the regional program they talk about considering the investment in the Hospital Central do Algarve and Dr. Rui Rio comes to the Algarve and on the subject nothing». The criticism was made this Wednesday, January 26, by Jamila Madeira, head of the PS list.

In a statement made outside the Hospital de Faro, the socialist candidate said that, «whoever wants to end universal and tendentially free health care, cannot want to build the Central Hospital of the Algarve, an investment of 300 million euros that will make a difference in health in the Algarve».

«It is clear that those who want to privatize healthcare would not be giving a new home to the former Lagos Hospital today, and relocating it to the former São Gonçalo Hospital building and regaining dignity, quality and surgical capacity long lost!” he added.

«Algarvians need this investment and only PS is committed to investing in Hospital Central do Algarve! Only António Costa made commitments to the Algarve! This investment is a regional commitment but it is also a commitment inscribed in the national program of the PS. António Costa assumed that”, said Jamila Madeira, emphasizing that “we never said it would be easy, but we speak the truth and that's why we asked this opportunity from the Algarve and the Algarve”.

"The work we have in progress cannot stop", he added, detailing that "we re-evaluated the contest that the PSD stopped, we verified its validity and premises and, therefore, we are almost in a position to move forward and, if we succeed, we will move forward even faster than the Lisbon Hospital. We have to keep moving forward and only together can we go forward and make it!”.

In the field of health, the socialist candidate recalled that "we also have 39 million euros of investment planned in primary health care to advance and that will change proximity assistance, the Algarve Biomedical Center, the oncological reference center, the aging center active and medically assisted breeding unit. The Algarve cannot stop!».
