The booster dose has already been integrated into the vaccination certificates, which are now valid for nine months, according to the Directorate-General for Health (DGS).
According to the information updated by the DGS, as of February 1, there will be, in the European Union, an expiration date indicating the primary vaccination schedule: 1/1 (for single-dose vaccines or for those who have recovered from the infection ) and 2/2 (for two-dose vaccines).
"The vaccination certificates attesting to the completion of the primary vaccination schedule will be accepted up to 270 days (nine months) after the date of administration of the dose that completed the primary vaccination schedule", indicates the information updated by the health authority, adding that "the vaccination certificates attesting to the administration of booster doses shall not be subject to an acceptance period'.
Since the rules regarding the use of the vaccination certificate vary between countries, the DGS recommends that the traveler, before traveling, check the rules of entry into force in the country of destination through the portal Reopen EU and the websites of the respective country authorities.
In Portugal, only vaccination certificates that certify the complete vaccination schedule of the respective holder, for at least 14 days, with the vaccines of the Janssen, Pfizer-BioNTech (Community), Modern (Spikevax) ou AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria).
The DGS information also explains that the booster dose administered after a two-dose primary vaccination schedule is presented on the certificate as a 3/3 schedule, after a single-dose primary vaccination schedule it is presented as a 2/1 schedule and in those recovered from the infection it appears as 3/1 scheme.
It adds that it is possible to access the vaccination certificate with an indication of the booster dose 14 days after the date of administration and that during this period the previous vaccination certificate can be used.
