CDU demands more investment in the National Health Service in the Algarve

In a pre-campaign action with the Hospital de Faro

The CDU demanded that there be more investment in the SNS, in the Algarve, and considers that “measures to secure doctors, nurses and other health professionals are urgent”, after a pre-campaign action for the legislative elections on the 30th of January held by this party at the Hospital de Faro.

On the occasion, the communists contacted «users and health professionals», having registered «various complaints and aspirations, both from users who are often denied access to consultations, examinations and surgeries in the National Health Service, as well as from professionals who , exposed to greater demands arising from the work overload related to the epidemic, continue to expect to see their salaries and their careers valued».

During this pre-campaign initiative, Catarina Marques, head of the CDU's list for the Algarve, «made known not only the diagnosis, but also the proposals for defending the SNS in the region».

And one of them is the need to «extend (…) the incentives that help to establish and attract health professionals to the SNS», as well as «to invest heavily in primary health care in the region, rehabilitating buildings, building other and reinforcing its response capacity, guaranteeing more doctors and consultations for the Algarve, who are, across the country, the ones who have the least access to a family doctor».

CDU also reaffirmed its commitment, «not only with the need for greater investment in the current hospitals, but also with the construction of the new Central Hospital of the Algarve – so many times promised and so many times postponed – as well as new facilities for the Lagos Hospital».
