The video “Cumbre Vieja – The Fire From Within”, resulting from the Algarve Bruno Gonçalves' trip to La Palma to photograph the eruption of the volcano, has already been awarded twice at international film festivals.
Using the technique timelapse, this video won the “Best Timelapse Film” awards at the Barcelona Planet Film Festival, “Best Short Documentary” at the Solidarity Festival All Con La Palma, having also been a finalist in the Oniros Film Awards Festival, New York.
This video resulted from a small part of the 19 thousand photographs taken in timelapse sequences by Bruno Gonçalves on a trip to La Palma, in the Canaries, accompanied by a friend, to photograph the eruption of the volcano Cumbre Vieja.
In November, when this video was released, Bruno Gonçalves told Sul Informação that this trip resulted in «the opportunity to be there to record something unique and to photograph, live, these same events», recording «the birth of a new mountain and the growth of the island's area, with the solidification of the lava that is to be expelled by the volcano».
«It was a new experience, a different theme, so we were completely out of our comfort zone and even went on the adventure without knowing it. This trip was something completely impressive and indescribable», highlighted Bruno Gonçalves.
