Algarve with 6857 new cases of Covid-19 in a week, hospitalizations continue to decrease

The Algarve recorded a further 6857 cases of Covid-19 and 11 fatalities over the last week, reveals the regional Civil Protection Commission, in its weekly situation report made this Friday, January 14th.

In terms accumulated since the beginning of the pandemic, the Algarve region accounts for 70.592 cases and 603 deaths, caused by Covid-19.

With regard to hospitalizations of Covid patients in Algarve hospitals, there was a slight decrease. There are now 61 people hospitalized (-9), of which 12 are in the Intensive Care Unit (-3) and 7 need to be ventilated (+1).

Active cases increased throughout the week, from 7572 on the 7th of January to 8212 (+640) this Friday the 14th.

Throughout the week, and also according to data from the Civil Protection Commission of the Algarve Region, there were 6206 more patients recovering from Covid-19.

The number of recovered (since the beginning of the pandemic, in March 2020) now totals 61.777 in the Algarve region.

In the Algarve, there are currently 4070 contacts under surveillance.

The municipality with the most active cases is Albufeira (1433), which has a cumulative 14-day incidence of 3423 cases per 100 inhabitants. Algarve municipality with the highest incidence of Covid-19.

next Faro (1303), Loulé (1288) and Portimão (1010). The municipality with the fewest active cases is Monchique, with 28 infected patients.
