Farense wastes two-goal advantage and draws with Nacional

Elves Baldé scored a great goal

Farense did not go beyond a draw (2-2), this Sunday, at the Estádio de São Luís, against the national Nacional da Madeira. Fanã's team was better, even playing with one less, they were winning by two goals, but, close to the 90th minute, they allowed a draw.

Farense started more dangerous and soon after 2 minutes was close to scoring, when Pedro Henrique crossed to the far post, but the Nacional defender prevented Elves Baldé's victorious amendment.

The goal in the Algarve really arrived, in the 19th minute, when Pedro Henrique was knocked down in the area and referee Manuel Mota pointed to the 11-meter mark. Called to convert the penalty, the same Pedro Henrique deceived António Filipe and made it 1-0.

Nacional couldn't create any danger and the game was going well for Farense, but, in the 41st minute, the situation was complicated when Bura, in a midfield play, had a tough entry on a Nacional player and saw the red card direct.

The insular team returned from the changing rooms looking for a draw, but it was Farense who, despite being playing with one less, extended their advantage with a great goal, in the 54th minute.

Elves Baldé caught the ball close to his area, rocked, passed a Nacional defender in speed and shot, still far, without a chance for António Filipe.

The Algarve's two-goal advantage didn't last, even so, for a long time. In the 57th minute, after a cross from the left, Rochez jumped higher than Ricardo Velho and, with his head, reduced the disadvantage to Nacional.

In the 63rd minute, Farense could have reached the third goal. Elves Baldé broke through on the right, crossed to the far post, where Bruno Paz, loose but perhaps distracted by the presence of a pigeon in the small area, shot at the post.

The devilish Elves Baldé once again created danger in the 73rd minute, after another great dash. However, this time, the shot from the edge of the area went wide of António Filipe's post.

Despite the attempt of greater pressure by Nacional, Farense, on the counterattack, managed to be more dangerous and, at 82′, it was Nacional's keeper who denied the third goal in the Algarve, after another dangerous shot by Elves.

Farense did not score, but Nacional, in the 89th minute. After a cross into the area, following a free-kick, Ricardo Velho went wrong, the ball fell to Dudu, who made it 2-2.

The Farense goalkeeper redeemed himself in added time, at 94′, denied the 2-3, with a great save, and held a point for the Algarve, who continue, now with 14 points, above the waterline.
