DGS reduces the isolation period for asymptomatic and high-risk contacts to 7 days

Decision "is in line with guidelines from other countries and results from a technical and thoughtful reflection, given the incubation period of the now predominant variant, Ómicron"

The isolation period for people infected with Covid-19, who are asymptomatic, and for high-risk contacts will go from 10 to 7 days, has just announced the Directorate-General for Health (DGS).

In a note sent to the newsrooms, the DGS says that it has already informed the Ministry of Health of this new measure.

"This decision is in line with guidelines from other countries and is the result of a technical and thoughtful reflection, given the incubation period of the now predominant variant, Ómicron", explains the Directorate-General for Health.

“The operationalization of this technical decision, due to the need to update the norms and repair the information system, will be concluded as soon as possible, during the next week”, concludes the statement.
