Last night's rain caused 22 occurrences in the Barlavento Algarvio

The "anticipation measures mitigated the consequences of the adverse meteorological situation", guarantees the Regional Civil Protection

The heavy rain that fell yesterday, especially in the Barlavento Algarvio, in the late afternoon and early evening, caused 22 occurrences in the municipalities of Albufeira, Aljezur, Lagoa, Lagos, Monchique, Portimão and Silves, revealed the Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command .

There were floods of structures and surfaces, falls from trees, falls from energy supply networks, highlighting the cut in the access road to the A22 in Alvor, in the municipality of Portimão.

"All situations were promptly resolved at the municipal level of Civil Protection", stresses the Regional Command. Also according to the same note, the "anticipation measures mitigated the consequences of the adverse meteorological situation", having the "reinforced device" allowed "to respond to multiple occurrences following an episode of intense and localized precipitation".

Yesterday afternoon and early evening, 32 vehicles and 83 operators from different Municipal Services and Civil Protection Agents, in particular the Fire Departments, were involved in the operations.

This morning, it continues to rain with some persistence in certain areas of the Western Algarve, but there is no news of flooding so far.
