Algarve registers 3441 new cases of Covid-19 in one week

The Algarve has registered over 3.441 confirmed cases of Covid-19, as well as 14 deaths caused by the disease, over the last week, reveals the regional Civil Protection Commission, in its weekly status report.

In accumulated terms since the beginning of the pandemic, the Algarve region accounts for 58.688 cases and 583 deaths, motivated by the pandemic.

With regard to admissions of Covid patients to hospitals in the Algarve, there was a slight increase. There are now 84 hospitalized people (+6), of which 16 are in the Intensive Care Unit and 13 need to be ventilated (+4).

With the addition of infections, active cases increased throughout the week, from 3.598 on December 24th to 4.828 (+1.230) this Friday, the 31st.

The county with the most active cases is that of Faro (814), followed by Loulé (805) and Portimão (644). The county with the fewest active cases is Alcoutim, with only 23.

Over the course of the week, and still according to the status of the Civil Protection Commission of the Algarve Region, there were 2.197 more patients recovering from Covid-19. The number of people recovered (since the start of the pandemic in March 2020) now totals 53.277 in the Algarve region.
