Show of «miniature opera» “O Anel do Unicórnio” opens at Cineteatro Louletano

Sessions will take place on the 19th and 20th of November

The show “O Anel do Unicórnio”, “a miniature opera” by Teatro do Eléctrico, will premiere in Loulé this Friday morning, November 19, at 10 am, and this Saturday afternoon, 30 (session Special), at 20 pm, at the Cineteatro Louletano, then departing on a tour of the country.

Created by Ana Lázaro, Martim Sousa Tavares and Ricardo Neves-Neve, the 50-minute play tells the story of Pedro Patê, «a boy bored by his unusual luck. Son of two opera singers, he himself lives inside an opera that never ends, with the background music of an orchestra that guides every gesture he makes», begins by saying Teatro do Elétrico, in a note sent to the editorial offices.

«Annoyed with this condition, and fed up with uninterruptedly listening to arias, kavatinas, intermezzos and the like, or being dragged into epic adventures or intrigues and tumults by his father Bellini Bel Canto (a former barber in Seville) and his mother Faustina Balão , a true baroque diva, Pedro Patê dreams of the possibility of becoming an illusionist and discovering the trick that steals the songs from the mouths of his family with just a snap of his fingers!», reads the synopsis of the piece.

«Until one day, Faustina Balloon's pet cat, Don Giovanni al Latte, mysteriously disappears. Precisely on the day that Bellini Bel Canto and Faustina Balão celebrate the Silver Wedding. After all, in opera there are no limits to the unexpected!».

The session on November 20, at 17:00, at Cineteatro Louletano, will be a representation that will have Portuguese Sign Language.

After premiering in Loulé, the play will continue on tour to Guimarães, from 25 to 27 November, at Centro Cultural Vila Flor, and, in December, arrives in Lisbon, from 3 to 19, at LUCA – Teatro Luís de Camões. In 2022 it will be in Odivelas, Ovar and Ílhavo.

Tickets cost eight euros and are on sale at online ticket office. Admission will be free for all people with special needs, for children up to 12 years old and for Loulé City Council senior card holders
