Farense dancer Rita Salazar wins 1st place in international competition

Rita Salazar is 14 years old

The young dancer from Farense Rita Salazar, aged 14, won 1st place in the contemporary dance category in the Paris semi-final of the Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP), which took place from 12 to 14 November in the French capital.

In addition to having won in the contemporary dance category, at the junior level, which had 90 competitors from various countries, the dancer from Companhia de Dança do Algarve was ranked in the top-12 in classical dance.

First place was won with the interpretation of the play “Lost”, by Evgueny Beliaev.

The Youth America Gran Prix (YAGP) in Paris is an international competition "which is the largest global network of dance and development of dancers between the ages of 9 and 19".

Rita Salazar had already conquered the Top 12 in the New York final in 2019, having been the only Portuguese winner in her level.
