National Maritime Authority maintained three buoys in the Olhão channel

Objective was to ensure "preventive and corrective maintenance of maritime signaling"

The elements of the National Maritime Authority (AMN) carried out, between the 22nd and 26th of November, an action to maintain three buoys in the Olhão channel, in the Ria Formosa.

According to AMN, "this beacon action aimed to carry out preventive and corrective maintenance of maritime signaling in that region and, consequently, guarantee the safety of navigation in the channel". The action took place under the coordination of the Directorate of Lighthouses, of the National Maritime Authority.

A team composed of elements of the Port of Olhão Captaincy participated in this action, farorows of Farol from Cabo de Santa Maria, a nurse from the Southern Maritime Zone Command and members of the Portuguese Navy's Detachment of Sapadores Divers No. 2.

The Lighthouse Management is responsible for maintaining 242 navigation aid mechanisms, which include buoys, beacons and farolin.
