Algarve Business Associations support the Application of Faro the European Capital of Culture 2027

Seven business associations in the Algarve expressed their express support for the candidacy.

The Business and Commercial Associations of the Algarve, recognizing the potential of the Application for Faro the European Capital of Culture as an important engine of economic and social development in the region, joined the Municipality of Faro and formalized their support for Faro2027.

The declaration of support for the application was signed by the Association of Commerce and Services of the Algarve Region (ACRAL), Algarve Hotels and Touristic Enterprises Association (AHETA), Algarve Hotel and Similar Industry Association (AIHSA), Algarve Evolution, Association National Association of Young Entrepreneurs (ANJE), Business Association of the Algarve Region (NERA) and Confederation of Entrepreneurs of the Algarve (CEAL).

 

According to Rogério Bacalhau, president of the City Council of Faro, “this is an application from and for the entire region. Faro2027 is a legacy that we want to leave to the Algarve, but more than that, it is a structuring and mobilizing project where everyone has a place; business associations, companies, investors, trade; we will welcome everyone who wants to join us with open arms”.

 

Vítor Neto, president of the Business Association of the Algarve Region (NERA), said he supported “the Candidacy process for European Capital of Culture from the beginning, aware that nothing will ever go back to the way it was. We are very interested in being part of this process and this integrated vision for the region”.

“No county, parish or sector goes ahead alone. Support Faro2027 is to invest in strengthening our international notoriety”, concluded the president of NERA.

The statement of support for the Application of Faro the European Capital of Culture, took place on the 20th of October, at the Salão Nobre of the Municipality.
