Maritime Police assists 17 people aboard a maritime tourist vessel in Lagoa

Crew members managed to get the engine running and took the vessel back to Marina de Portimão

The elements of the local Command of the Maritime Police of Portimão helped on yesterday afternoon, the 26th, two crew and 15 passengers of a maritime-tourist vessel that was drifting towards a rocky area, after being without propulsion, next to the Gruta do Contrabando, on the coast of the municipality of Lagoa.

According to the National Maritime Authority, the alert was received at 14:28 pm, through the operator of the maritime-tourist vessel. A vessel belonging to the Maritime Police of Portimão immediately went to the scene.

The 15 passengers were "well physically and without the need for medical assistance", and the elements of the Maritime Police "transferred and transported them to the Marina of Portimão, with the help of another maritime-tourist vessel" that was nearby.

The crew of the damaged vessel managed, after several attempts, to recover its propulsion, then proceeding to the Marina de Portimão, “where the vessel will be subject to an inspection to determine the seaworthiness conditions”.

The local command of the Maritime Police of Portimão took care of the incident.
