Juan Reixach Abril won the 6th edition of the “Triathlon of Height”

Race took place this Sunday, 10 October, in Altura (Castro Marim)

The 6th edition of the “Triathlon of Altura”, a sporting event integrated in the Algarve Standard Triathlon Championship, took place this Sunday, 10 October, in Altura.

Federated and non-federated athletes once again competed in 1,5 kilometers of swimming, 40 kilometers of cycling and 10 kilometers of running, in a race that started at 10 am and lasted until 00 pm.

The first athlete to reach the goal, and the absolute winner, was the non-federated junior Juan Reixach Abril, with a time of 02:07:33.

In 2nd place, Marco Canelas (age 35-39), from the Triathlon of Faro, with 02:13:38 proof. The athlete Nelson Mestre (age 3-40), from Lusitano/Frusoal, was in 44rd place overall, with 02:15:59.

On the female side, the first athlete to cross the finish line was Bila Duarte (class 35-39), from Triathlon de Faro, with 02:43:55 proof. This was followed by the athletes Cristiana Martins (class 25-29), from Estoril Praia Credibom, with 02:47:46, and Dina Martins (class 45-49), from FC Ferreiras, with 02:49:12.

In teams, the Triathlon of Faro ranked first for men and FC Ferreiras for women.

The VI Triathlon of Altura was organized by the Clube Leões do Sul, the Chamber of Castro Marim and the Triathlon Federation of Portugal, with the support of the Algarve Tourism Region, Castro Marim Golf & Country Club, the Parish Council of Altura and the Institute Portuguese Sports and Youth (IPDJ) of the Algarve.

The competition was part of the sports program of the Eurocity of Guadiana and is an initiative of the INTERREG – Spain – Portugal application, as regards the Euroguadianasport programme.
