Ferragudo Lifeguard Station rescues a woman on the Marinha beach in Lagoa

The victim was initially assisted by the beach lifeguards

A 64-year-old woman, who felt ill and went into cardiac arrest on Marinha beach, in the municipality of Lagoa, was rescued yesterday by elements of the Ferragudo Life-Saving Station.

The alert was received at around 13:00, through the Lisbon Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC Lisbon), informing that an inanimate woman was found on the beach, and a vessel from the Station was immediately activated to the location. Ferragudo lifeguard. Elements of the INEM and of the Lagoa Volunteer Firefighters also traveled to the site.

The victim was initially assisted by the beach lifeguards, who started the resuscitation maneuvers, until the arrival of the INEM medical team and firefighters, who continued with the maneuvers.

Upon arrival at the site, members of the Ferragudo Lifesaving Station carried out the rescue and transport of the victim by sea to the Ferragudo pier, as well as the INEM medical team, which continued with on-board resuscitation maneuvers.

At the Ferragudo wharf, elements of the local Command of the Maritime Police of Portimão and of the Voluntary Fire Department of Lagoa were waiting, who transported the victim, in critical condition, to a hospital unit.
