Cycle “French Film of the Month” returns to the Museum of Portimão with sessions until June

The “French Film of the Month” initiative is back at the Portimão Museum and will once again show “the best that Gallic filmmakers produce”, from October 28th until June of next year, always with free admission, promoted between the Alliance Française do Algarve and the Grupo dos Amigos do Museu de Portimão (GAMP).

This cycle of French cinema, «in addition to showing the great cinematographic successes in the language of Molière to the Algarve public», is also intended to «attract the many French people who, increasingly, live or holiday in the Algarve, allowing them to in contrast to know the history and regional heritage», begins by saying the municipality of Portimão.

O first movie of this new cycle entitled “Damien veut changer le Monde”, by Xavier de Choudens, and will be shown on 28 October, at 21 pm, in the auditorium of the Museum of Portimão.

This comedy deals with “the life of Damien and his sister, who had a happy childhood, rocked by the defense of causes that characterized their parents' daily lives, although their militantism was extinguished with the death of their mother. Two decades later, when Damien works as an educator at a primary school, the imminent expulsion of one of his students convinces his family and friends to join him in a new fight. They will break the law and quickly lose control of events”.

All the films in the cycle will be shown on the last Thursday of the month and in an original French version, with subtitles in Portuguese.

On November 25th, “Hippocrate”, by Thomas Lilti, on January 27th, “Énorme”, by Sophie Letourneur, on February 24th, “Marche ou Crève” by Tatiana-Margaux Bonhomme and on March 31st, “De Gaulle” by Gabriel Le Bomin.

On the 28th of April the film “Les Éblouis”, by Sarah Suco will be screened, on the 26th of May the “Tout ce qu'il me reste de la révolution”, by Judith Davis and to finish, on the 30th of June, there will be session with “Un beau voyou”, by Lucas Bernard.

Alliance Française do Algarve, whose headquarters are located in Faro, is a private-law association whose object is the dissemination of the French language and culture, and its activities include teaching Portuguese to French speakers, in addition to conducting French exams and translations, among other actions.

In March 2018, the entity decided to extend its presence to the Barlavento Algarvio and established a partnership protocol with GAMP, aiming at «strengthening friendly and cultural ties with the local associative fabric, thanks to which the cycle "French Film of the Month" began to take place in Portimão, at the same time that it promotes Portuguese classes for French-speakers residing in the municipality, through a partnership established with the local Parish Council», concludes the municipality of Portimão.
