Loulé will be "on the timeline" to talk about medieval surgery

Conference cycle starts on September 18th

The cycle of conferences “Loulé on the timeline” will start on September 18, at 15 pm, at the Loulé Municipal Archive Professor Joaquim Romero Magalhães, with Cristina Moisão presenting “In Loulé, using and working on the science of surgery in times past medievals”.

«In 2018 we carried out a compilation work on Portuguese medieval surgeons, in which we were able to document five individuals residing in the village of Loulé during the XNUMXth century. A legislative document was also found indicating the existence of payment for a surgeon by the municipality of that locality», begins by saying the Loulé municipality in a press note sent to the editorial offices.

«The documents found allow us to know a little about the private life of these surgeons and their family relationships, a subject that we will try to develop throughout the work that we now propose to carry out. Additionally, another Loulé surgeon will be presented who, although already belonging to the XNUMXth century, is familiarly related to one of his predecessors”, he explains.
