Covid-19 causes six more deaths in the Algarve

Number of active cases rose slightly nationally

The Algarve registers six more deaths due to Covid-19 and 109 new cases of the disease, according to the bulletin of the General Directorate of Health (DGS) this Sunday, 5 September, which has just been released.

After, in yesterday's newsletter, four more deaths have been registered in the Algarve region, in today's bulletin there are six more, almost half of the total at national level, which amounted to 13.

With regard to new infections in the Algarve, the number decreased compared to yesterday, when 172 more cases were counted in the region.

Across the country, in today's report, 1190 more cases of Covid-19 were reported, which also represents a decrease compared to the last bulletin (1713 infections).

In addition to the six deaths registered in the Algarve, the DGS recorded two more deaths in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, in the North and in the Center and one in Alentejo.

The number of new retrieved was 1.112, which means that the number of active cases has increased and are now 42.423 (+65).

The number of inpatients in hospitals increased from 664 to 665 and also in intensive care units there was a minimal variation (-1) to 138.

 

 

The Northern region was the one that, according to this Sunday's bulletin, contributed the most to the increase in infections nationwide, registering over 460 cases. It follows Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, with 367, the Center (173), the Algarve (109), the Alentejo (53), Madeira (20) and the Azores (8).

The number of contacts under surveillance has decreased (-400) and are now 42.469.

The risk matrix did not change, continuing with Friday's numbers. The incidence rate at the national level is 295,5 cases of infection by Covid-19 per 100 inhabitants and 302,6 cases, excluding the islands.

The R(t), the transmissibility index, is at 0,96 nationally, and at 0,97 if only continental territory is taken into account.
