Active cases went down in the Algarve in the last week

Hospitalizations and patients in intensives also went down

The number of active Covid-19 cases dropped in 2045 in the Algarve, in the last seven days, according to the weekly status report released today, September 10, by the District Civil Protection Commission of Faro.

This abrupt decline is linked to the high number of recoveries, 2949 between 00:00 on the 3rd and 23:59 on the 9th, which, despite not being mentioned in the usual weekly summary presented by the committee, seems to be a hit.

In all, there are now 2790 active cases of the disease in the Algarve region.

Although the numbers of recovered and, by implication, active cases, are unusually high, the trend they indicate is confirmed by other indicators in the report.

This week there are 21 fewer people admitted, with the total now standing at 51. In intensive care, there are now 10 patients (-4) and four ventilated (-1).

As for deaths, there were 13 within seven days, bringing the total accumulated since the beginning of the pandemic in the Algarve to 445.

Over the past week, there have been 917 new cases in the region, bringing the cumulative total to 40.788.

Surveillance contacts dropped to 2104 (-658).
