Handball: Athletes from Lagos who represented Portugal in the U-17 European Championship were honored

The praise was extended to the technical team and the direction of the Clube Desportivo da Escola Secundária Gil Eanes

Amanda Assunção, Carmen Figueiredo, Maria Pico, Matilde Rosa and Matilde Correia, athletes from the Sports Club of Gil Eanes Secondary School, were honored by the Câmara de Lagos for having represented the National Women's Handball Team at the European Under-17 Championship, in August.

The municipality of Lacobrigense approved a vote of congratulation and praise for the athletes, which is «extended also to the coach, Ana Sofia Osório, the technical director, Vera Lopes, and to all elements of the direction of the Clube Desportivo da Escola Secundária Gil Eanes» to recognize your work and achievement in this championship.

In the competition, which took place in Montenegro, in the Balkans, Portugal faced the teams of Slovakia, France, Czech Republic, Sweden and Switzerland, after which "it reached a glorious 10th place", according to the Câmara de Lagos.

In this European championship, Matilde Rosa, the goalkeeper of the Portuguese team, who was considered the MVP (Most Valuable Player/best player on the field) twice, in the game of victory of Portugal against France and against Sweden.

The distinction awarded is “a way of recognizing your work and achievements in this championship”.
