Alliance Française recalls Jacques Mer's life “full of stories, smiles and celebrations”

The Alliance Française do Algarve regretted the death, which took place this Friday, September 10, of Jacques Mer, former president of this institution, recalling the "love" he had for France and the country's cinema, as well as his life full of "stories, smiles and celebrations". 

In a press release, Alliance Française highlights the fact that Jacques Mer, president from 1997 to 2014, has dedicated part of his life to this entity, something "we can only be grateful for".

"We have lost a passion for French cinema and France," he adds.

António Bernardes, current president of the Alliance Française do Algarve, also lamented the death of Jacques Mer, saying that this is "a huge loss".

“Jacques was an example of devotion, work and abnegation that made the Alliance Française recognized in our region”, he considers.

The current president of Aliance Française also recalls the essential role of Jacques Mer for the French Film Festival to also reach Faro.

At 88 years old, Jacques Mer, who was also the leader of the Algarve Film Commission, died this Friday, the 10th of September, in Faro.
