The municipality of Alcoutim, which has not had any active case of Covid-19 since 8 September, is the only one in the Algarve without anyone infected by that disease, according to the weekly situation report released today, 17 September, by the District Protection Commission Civil of Faro.
Since mid-August Alcoutim has not registered infections by the new coronavirus.
The Algarve has this Friday 346 less active cases than a week ago, in a total of 2.444 people still infected (last week there were 2.790).
Today there are also five fewer inpatients, with the total now standing at 46. In Intensive Care, there are only four people (-6 than last week) and three ventilated (-1).
In fact, according to the Red Lines Monitoring report for Covid-19, released recently by the DGS, the Algarve is the second region in the country with the lowest occupancy rate of its Intensive Care Units destined to Covid, since, at this time, , only 22% of its total capacity is occupied.
As for deaths, there were two more within seven days, bringing the total accumulated since the beginning of the pandemic in the Algarve to 447.
Over the past week, there have been 600 new cases in the region, bringing the cumulative total to 41.388.
As for those recovered, the bulletin counts over 944 people, a total of 38.497 since March 6 of last year.
Surveillance contacts dropped to 1.889 (-220).
Also according to the DGS Covid-19 Red Line Monitoring report, and with regard to the 14-day cumulative incidence, the Algarve region maintains the highest incidence value, but already below the threshold of 480 cases per 100 000 inhabitants.
The incidence in Portugal was 166 cases per 100 inhabitants, representing a decreasing trend. All health regions registered a decrease in incidence.
