The PAN – People-Animals-Nature, presents itself for the first time to local elections in Portimão, with the candidacy of Ricardo Cândido for the Municipal Council and the Parish Council of Portimão, and Daniela Duarte for the Municipal Assembly.
"This is a disruptive candidacy of the existing municipal policy, a candidacy for environmental, animal and social causes, composed mostly of independents, who live or work in the municipality, and who over time have witnessed the total mismanagement of consecutive executives in these matters" , says Ricardo Cândido, from Portimo, a civil engineer and local businessman.
"Successive executives have focused their efforts on visibility abroad, through megalomaniac projects that have brought the city to its current financial state, leaving the citizens with the bill to pay and without a city that provides them with quality of life", highlights Daniela Duarte, local businesswoman, born in Portimão.
The PAN presents itself to these elections with the slogan “Portimão, our Ca[u]sa”, which in the words of Ricardo Cândido results from the general feeling of Portimão: “it is time for Portimão to be thought of for Portimão, as people who live and work here and who make Portimão, Portimão!”
“No more baseless interventions, just to 'show work', no more gigantic projects that consume resources and never see the light of day. Without planning, scarce resources are wasted and what is necessary is not carried out”, concludes the head of the list of the PAN candidacy.
«The creation of a Municipal Plan for the Protection, Health and Animal Welfare and execution of censuses of stray animals, companion animals and others; the execution of campaigns of the CED Program (Capture-Sterilize-Return) of colonies and stray animals, with electronic identification under the responsibility of the City Council, as well as free sterilization campaigns for pet animals; p improvement of the CROA, ensuring the existence of veterinarians and adequate staff around the clock and creation of an animal rescue/rescue team; and also the creation of a Pet-Friendly Beach, where access with pet animals is admitted, safeguarding the animal welfare and presentation of the space through its own regulations» are the measures presented by the PAN electoral program.
