Butoh is an avant-garde dance created in Japan, in the late 50's, by Tatsumi Hijikata and Kazuo Ohno, in an approach that is born from within us and connects us to our essence, nature, universe, contradictions and the cycles of life and death.

On the 16th, Thursday, Podium is presented, a creation by Hugo Marmelada, with interpretation by Carolina Cantinho, and on the following Saturday, Yuko Kominami and Joana Von Mayer Trindade propose an approach to the ritualized aspect of dance in In Ritual.

On the 22nd, Wednesday, Maria Fonseca presents the work created under the Emergent Cycle. “Sahasrara” reflects on what it has been like to live in times of pandemic: “we are faced with the unknown, with our own death but also with the death of a future that we thought was under control”.

On the 25th and 26th, dance will remain in the spotlight, this time with the show “Romeu & Julieta”, performed by Quorum Ballet, in co-production with Teatro das Figuras. The artistic direction is signed by choreographer Daniel Cardoso, who continues to recreate the great classics, continuing the work developed in Lago dos Cisnes and Sagração da Primavera, relating them to life and society today.

The September program ends with the play Brasa, by Tiago Cadete, presented in the context of BoCA – Bienal de Artes Contemporâneas 2021.
