Covid-19: There are fewer hospitalized, ICU and ventilated patients. but active cases grew in the Algarve

Number of deaths also rose

There are fewer patients hospitalized because of Covid-19 in hospitals in the Algarve, according to the usual weekly situation report released this Friday, August 13, by the District Civil Protection Commission of Faro.

The numbers indicate that there are now 76 people hospitalized for that disease (7 fewer than a week ago), of which 15 are in Intensive Care (less 5) and 9 are ventilated (-3).

However, over the week there were 8 more deaths due to Covid-19 (a total of 401 deaths in the Algarve region since the beginning of the pandemic), while active cases also rose, although not much. According to the bulletin, there are 4371 active cases, 63 more than on the 6th.

Over the course of the week, 1615 new cases were also registered throughout the Algarve region. Since March 2020, when the pandemic began, 35.395 confirmed cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in the Algarve.

What matters is that, between 6 and 13 August, according to information from the District Civil Protection, the number of people recovered has also risen, totaling 30.623 (more 1544 in a week).

In the last 24 hours, and as can be seen in detail on our interactive map, there were 3 deaths in the Algarve, in Faro and Loulé (two men aged 62 and 77) and in Olhão (one woman aged 75). The councils with the most new cases were, in that order, Loulé, Faro, Albufeira, Portimão, Olhão and Tavira.
