Algarvio José Costa and Jorge Lima win Olympic diploma in sailing

The pair reached 94 points and was 24 of the Olympic medals

The Algarve sailor José Costa and Jorge Lima finished, this Tuesday, 3rd of August, the 49er competition in 7th place, having conquered an Olympic diploma.

The Portuguese even entered the last race in 6th place, but a penalty made them drop one position. The pair reached 94 points and was 24 of the Olympic medals.

This 49er race was eventually won by Dylan Fletcher and Stuart Bithell (UK), while Blair Tuke and Peter Burling (New Zealand) achieved silver.

The podium was closed with Erik Heil and Thomas Ploessel (Germany).

For Portugal, this was the seventh Olympic diploma.

As for medals, the Portuguese mission has already won three: two bronze by Jorge Fonseca (Judo) and Fernando Pimenta (Canoeing) and one silver (Patrícia Mamona).
