Teresa Coelho, Secretary of State for Fisheries, made a working visit to Aljezur last Friday, 9 July, where topics such as the protection of sea bream or the necessary works in the fishing ports of Arrifana and Pesca were discussed. of the Oven.

They then visited the Arrifana Fishing Port and the Forno Fishing Port, with a meeting with local associations linked to fishing.

The Association of Fishermen of Arrifana and Costa Vicetina, represented by President Eugénio Arez, the Association of Fishermen of Carrapateira, represented by Fernando Rosado, and the Association of Professional Shellfishers of the Natural Park, through President Ricardo Costa, raised several questions and problems they experience in their activity.

«This meeting resulted in some compromise points to be analysed, namely the ban on octopus fishing, the issues of the number of licenses of barnacle harvesters, the situation of the bream fenced off area, as well as some interventions that are necessary in these little ports , so that they can be the target of support in the next community framework», says the City Council of Aljezur.
