A flash estimate published today by the European Union (EU) statistical bureau, Eurostat, reveals that seasonally adjusted GDP increased by 13,7% in the eurozone and 13,2% in the EU in the second quarter of 2021 compared to the same period last year. last year.

In the quarterly variation, seasonally adjusted GDP increased, in the second quarter of 2021, by 2% in the euro zone and 1,9% in the EU, compared to the previous quarter.

Also in comparison with the first three months of 2021, Portugal recorded the biggest increase in this second quarter among the 11 countries with data available to Eurostat, with Portuguese GDP growing by 4,9% in the quarterly variation, followed by Austria (+ 4,3%) and Latvia (+3,7%).

Lithuania (+0,4%) and the Czech Republic (+0,6%) recorded the smallest increase in GDP in the second quarter of this year.
